A youth from New Delhi was drowned in the river Ganga on Wednesday morning at Muni Ki Reti area near the holy city of Rishikesh, police said.
The youth has been identified as Kanishak Rana (21) of Rohini Locality of the west Delhi. He had come to Muni Ki Reti with his two friends and started taking bath at Neem Beech area. And soon, Rana was swept away in the fast currents of the river.
Meanwhile, a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has launched an operation to look for Rana in the river by roping in deep diving divers. “We are trying our best to find Rana,” said an SDRF personnel.
On Sunday, two youths who had come from Delhi, were drowned in Ganga at Luxman Jhula area.
On April 19, two youths, one from Bihar and other from Delhi, were drowned in separate incidents in Ganga near Rishikesh.
