Yellow alert for Haridwar, US Nagar tomorrow

A day after intense cold, the people in Dehradun on Saturday heaved a sigh of relief as temperature rose by 7 notches even as hilly areas of Uttarakhand continued to remain in the grip of the cold wave sweeping the entire northern region in India.
In the plains of Haridwar and Udhamsingh Nagar, the met department has issued yellow alert for Sunday saying the weather conditions would remain mostly foggy with varied cold conditions. Barring Haridwar and US Nagar, the weather in other parts of the state would be mainly clear.
With the people shivering in cold in the most of the places, the met department said the cold wave conditions may continue for some more time.
In Dehradun, the max temperature rose to 20.3 degree from yesterday’s 13.4 degree C. The minimum temp was slightly fell to 6.1 degree in the early morning.
However, the morning remained mostly foggy in Dehradun.
In the hill areas, the people mostly remained indoors as the cold wave continued unabated in the entire Himalayan belt.
But overall, the dry conditions persisted with a couple of areas in Chamoli district reporting forest fires. The forest department has been asked to extinguish these fires, official sources said. Ends
