In a suggestion to Congress in the wake of growing differences within India bloc, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said the grouping partners should support AAP in Delhi assembly elections.
“AAP is very strong in Delhi. When India bloc was formed, it was decided that wherever a regional party is strong, the India bloc should further strengthen that party. In Delhi AAP is very strong. The Samajwadi party has decided to support AAP in Delhi,” Yadav told reporters in Haridwar where he attended a family function at Har-Ki-Pauri.
“INDIA bloc is intact. I remember when the INDIA bloc was formed, it was decided that wherever a regional party was strong, the alliance would extend support to them. AAP is strong in Delhi and Samajwadi Party has decided to give support to the AAP. The regional party fighting against the BJP should be supported by the leaders of the INDIA alliance,” Yadav said.
Ever since the Delhi elections are coming near, fissures within the India bloc are coming in open with Trinamool Congress also throwing its weight behind AAP.
AAP and Congress have drifted apart ever since the Haryana elections last year in October with the two parties failing to agree on seat sharing deal.
