Uttarakhand on alert as UCC bill to come in VS tomorrow

The Uttarakhand police has sounded an alert as the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) draft bill will be placed in the Vidhan Sabha tomorrow.
“We are on alert to prevent any untoward incident in view of the UCC draft and the Vidhan sabha session,” DGP Abhinav Kumar said.
The DGP said the security has been tightened in and around the Vidhan Sabha.
A day after the Uttarakhand cabinet approved a UCC draft, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Monday its bill will be placed in the Vidhan Sabha tomorrow.
On Friday, members of a high-powered committee have submitted the 740 page draft to the Chief Minister.
A UCC for Uttarakhand was one of the major poll planks of the BJP in the run-up to the state assembly elections held in 2022.
