The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL) is using modern technology based equipments to strengthen the power distribution system in Uttarkahand having rugged mountains and adverse weather conditions.
”The UPCL is using modern technology based equipments from time to time. UPCL is making every possible effort to further strengthen the power sector and as per the directions of the Chief Minister (Pushkar Singh Dhami)”, a top UPCL official said.
Due to poor power factor conditions and low voltage, there is a possibility of deterioration in the power supply situation. In order to deal with this situation, the UPCL is working on the installation of capacitor banks (capacitors) for a total of 101 transformers of a total of 61 33/11 KV substations across the state. UPCL Managing Director Anil Yadav informed that the establishment of capacitor bank in the power system network will be a long-term initiative. The work of setting up capacitor bank across the state by UPCL is proposed to be completed by March 2025.
As and when this scheme will be implemented, it will further improve the quality of electricity supply to the consumers. With the improvement in the quality of voltage, the efficiency of irrigation and drinking water projects in the state will also increased.
The establishment of capacitor bank (Bank Capacitor Bank) will have the following benefits:-
— The consumers will get relief from the problem of low voltage.
— Power factor (PF) will improve.
— It will help in reducing the technical losses.
—- The distribution system will become more robust and outages will be reduced.
— Line losses will be reduced.
— The problem of faults in the lines will be solved.
— The pressure on the transformers can be reduced.
