With the launch of the winter Chardham yatra from Ukhimath, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL) on Sunday said it is committed to provide smooth power supply in the religious centres of the Garhwal region in Uttarakhand.
UPCL Managing Director Anil Yadav issued necessary guidelines to all the regional units to ensure smooth power supply in the winter season in the main winter chardham pilgrimage centres as well as in tourist places such as Mussoorie, Auli, Lansdowne, Joshimath, Dhanaulti, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Chamoli, Chakrata, Rajaji National Park, Tehri, Devprayag, Chamba and Harshil.
“The UPCL is monitoring the condition of all its substations, HT/LT lines and street lights related to the tourist places on a daily basis so that all the tourists do not have to face any kind of electricity related problem. For the emergency situation, the arrangement of materials such as conductors, cables, poles, transformers is also being ensured at all the places so that in case of power disruption, power supply can be restored at the earliest”, Yadav said.
All the Superintending Engineers/Executive Engineers have also been directed to inspect the 33/11 KV substations and 11 KV feeders coming out of them under their area.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally launched the annual winter chardham yatra from Onkareshwar temple in Ukhimath which is the wintery sojourn of the Lord Kedar (Shiv) in Rudraprayag district. Dhami also inspected different arrangements which have been made for the promotion of the winter tourism.
