The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) is organizing a two-day fair to promote solar energy from December 16 in Dehradun.
UPCL Managing Director Anil Yadav said this fair is being organized to promote the use of solar energy as the company has tried to rope in all the stakeholders related to installing solar system including vendors and consumers at one platform.
Describing solar energy as clean and pollution free, Yadav appealed to the people to install solar-roof top systems at their homes as the move helps in protecting environment.
He said that apart from the central government, the state government is also giving subsidy in installing solar system on the roof of the houses with a subsidy of Rs 28000-29000 per kilowatt.
The MD said that Uttarakhand is among the top five states of the country in terms of per capita solar energy production. He said that the target of installing solar power system on the roof of ten thousand houses in this financial year has been achieved three and a half months in advance. So far, solar power systems have been installed in 10252 houses in the state.
He informed that 40,000 houses are to be covered under the solar energy scheme by 2027. For this, the number of solar vendors is being increased and till now the number of vendors recognized for residential areas in the state has reached 365.
He said that the target has been set to get 1400 MW solar capacity by 2027, out of which the target is to install 250 MW solar capacity in residential sector, 750 MW in commercial and industrial sector, 350 MW in institutional sector, 50 MW in agricultural sector.
