Amid strong protests in Dehradun against gangsters who killed a property dealer in Dehradun on Sunday night, the Uttarakhand government is now working on two-pronged strategies that include intensive verification driver against “outsiders” who are indulging in criminal activities and stricter punishment to the accused.
A concerned Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has already issued instructions in this regard to the state administration.
Dhami’s action came after Deepak Badola, a Dehradun-based property dealer, was killed in the firing and his body was recovered on Monday morning from a nullah at Dobhalwala. The two more people were also injured in the shootout.
Dhami on Thursday sent Raipur BJP MLA Umesh Sharma Kau and SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh to meet Badola’s wife Urmi.
The Chief Minister had also warned that anyone trying to disturb peace in the hill state will not be spared. A large number of people have been holding protest demonstrations in and around 6 No Pulia in Dehradun calling for stern action against all those gangsters or criminals who fired at three persons killing one and injuring two others in a dispute over a Tata Storm vehicle and money recovery.
The protesters demanded a strong Yogi-style action against gangsters involved in the crime and called for destroying their properties on the lines of Uttar Pradesh where Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath has taken strong action against the gangsters and the land mafia in the past few years.
A total of seven persons including the main accused have been arrested so far.
Irrespective of small or big gangster, Dhami made it clear that no one will be allowed to disturb peace in Uttarakhand. He warned that strong action will be taken against all the gangsters.
Meanwhile, the SSP assured the deceased’s wife Urmi Badola that stern action will be taken against the accused involved in the firing. Under the gangster act, the property of the accused would be confiscated, he said. The SSP also assured that the accused will get strict punishment for the crime.
Later, Urmi thanked both the Chief Minister and the police for their strong support.
At a high level meeting on Thursday, the Chief Minister also issued orders for carrying out verification drive against outsiders who are indulging in criminal activities in the state.
