UJVN commissions 5 Mw Suringaad hydel project

UJVN Ltd, an Uttarakhand government power company, has commissioned its 5 Mw Suringaad hydel project on a tributary of Gauri Ganga in Pithoragarh district.
The annual power production from the project will be 26.41 million units, said Dr Sandip Singhal, Managing Director (MD) of the UJVN.
Power Secretary R Meenakshi Sunderam said the people living around the project in Munsiyari area would not only get power but would also be benefitted by direct and indirect employment opportunities from the Suringaad small hydro project (SHP).
UJVN operates hydropower plants ranging in capacity from 1.5 MW to 304 MW, totaling to 1420.60 MW. “UJVN is committed to develop new power stations in an early and efficient manner for economic well-being and growth of the hill state and its people”, Dr Singhal said.
