UJVN Board gives approval for inviting tenders for 120 Mw Rupsiyabaggarh

The UJVN Board on Wednesday gave its approval for inviting tenders for the civil works of the new 120 MW Bhyol Rupsiyabaggarh hydroelectric project on the Gori Ganga river in the border district of Pithoragarh in Kumaon division

In the 119th Board Meeting of the state-run UJVNL Ltd, which was chaired by Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, the company Managing Director Dr. Sandeep Singhal said in view of the increasing energy needs in the state, many decisions were also taken by the Board for the development and construction of new projects.

The Board also gave administrative approval to issue tenders for the electrical and mechanical works of the 300 MW power generation capacity Lakhwar multipurpose project on the Yamuna river along with administrative approval.

Dr. Singhal said the proposal related to the pre-qualifications to be determined for the construction of civil works of the 72 MW Tyuni Palasu Hydroelectric Project on the Tons River was also approved.

The Board meeting also approved the annual budget for the financial year 2024-25.

Dr. Singhal said the Board also set a target of 5306 million units for the current financial year 24-25. In the last financial year 23-24, 4950 million units of electricity were generated by the UJVN.

Besides Chief Secretary Raturi, Power Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Independent Directors Indu Kumar Pande, B.P. Pandey,  Rajkumar, Parag Gupta were also present. Singhal and full-time Directors Suresh Chandra Baluni, A.K. Singh etc. also participated in the Board meeting.
