The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) on Friday announced power tariffs for the year 2025-26 restricting the effective tariff hike to 5.62 percent.
In its new tariff order, the UERC has increased by 25 paisa in energy charges for domestic consumers consuming upto 100 units per month.
For Domestic consumers consuming from 101 to 200 units per month, the increase will be 35 paise and an increase of 45 paisa will be for 201 to 400 units per month. For above 400 units/month, the increase will be Rs. 50 paisa per kVAh.
The Commission said it has restricted the effective tariff hike to 5.62% as against the proposal of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL) of about 12.01% and overall tariff hike proposed by all the power utilities of about 29.23 percent.
Meanwhile, the Indian Industries Association (IAU) President Pankaj Gupta said the UPCL, the sole distribution power company, must put its own house in order before seeking annual power hike. “WE have opposed any kind of power tariff hike as the UPCL has failed to control its line losses and take other reformative measures,” Gupta said.
For LT industry, the power hike is 4.61 percent and for HT industry the hike is 5.91 percent, Gupta said.
