Two minor girls on Monday alleged that they were raped by two youths after being lured by them in Dehradun, police said.
Two youths identified as Sahil (26) and Ahetram (21) who were residing in different localities of Dehradun have been arrested. Cases under 376 (rape) and Pocso Act have been registered against them.
When asked whether there is any love jihad angle in the case, a police official denied any such suggestion saying he did not see any such angle. “We should wait for medical reports and other investigations before jumping into any conclusion,” said the police official.
The case came to light when parents of the two girls fled a case at Rajpur police station on Monday morning that their two minor girls were untraceable since Sunday. Sensing the gravity of the case, SSP Dehradun Ajai Sngh immediately asked the Rajpur police station to investigate the case and find the two girls.
After seeing CCTV cameras and putting the mobiles on surveillance, the police found the two girls from Sahastradhara within hours after the filing of the FIR. The two youths – Sahil and Ahetram, who lured these girls, were also arrested and cases of rape were filed against them.
The two youths were later produced before a designated court which sent them to jail.
