Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday emphasized that intellectuals should seek effective solutions and alternatives for addressing public issues.
He stressed the need for continuous dialogue across all sections of society. Government schemes can only reach beneficiaries effectively when there is awareness about these schemes, and dialogue serves as an essential medium for this dissemination.
Addressing scholars and intellectuals at a panel discussion on ‘Karmayog and Governance’ held in Dehradun, Rawat, who is MP from Haridwar, stated that the country is progressing rapidly on the path of development, and sustaining this momentum requires the involvement of every segment of society.
He proposed an innovative initiative where, at semi-annual or annual intervals, intellectuals could deliberate for two to three days on societal issues and current topics. The insights gained from these discussions could then be shared with legislators to facilitate solutions to public problems.
He further noted that government policies are meant for public welfare and require the involvement of Karmayogis for effective implementation. It is also the responsibility of educators and intellectuals to prepare such Karmayogis in society.
Prof. DC Nainwal, who chaired the event, stated that Karmayog has a positive relationship with governance and is exemplified by the principles of Ram Rajya, which should inspire us in fulfilling our responsibilities. Guest of Honor Prof. Vinod Prakash Agarwal said that the core principle of Karmayog is the honest and sincere discharge of duties. Dr. MS Mandrawal emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude on the path of duty, as challenges may pull us back, but a positive outlook will drive us towards success.
The chief speaker of the event, Prof. Rachna Nautiyal, discussed various societal challenges and the potential for resolving them through Karmayog. She elaborated on issues related to women’s empowerment, safety, and other women-centric problems, highlighting the collective responsibility to find long-term solutions.
The organizer of the intellectual dialogue, Prof. HC Purohit, who also managed the event, stated that dedicating our lives to public welfare reflects Karmayog.
