Three earthquakes rocked parts of Uttarakhand and northeast region of India since early Friday.
However, there was no loss of life and property in the three earthquakes.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck Assam and adjoining states causing no casualties and damage at 0053 hours. But the USGS said the magnitude of this quake was 5.1 which was 106 Km E of Wangjing in Manipur.
People felt strong shocks in Uttarkashi town in Uttarakhand where an earthquake of 3.5 magnitude was recorded at 0819 hours. As the earthquake shook the area, some stones started falling down from the top of the highly fragile Varunvrat mountain in Uttarkashi town.
Minutes earlier, a mild earthquake measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale was recorded at 0741 hours in Uttarkashi also.
