In what appeared to be a targeted terrorist strike, six people were injured in the tourist resort of Pahalgam area in Kashmir Valley on Tuesday.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and began search for the terrorists. Several security vehicles were seen rushing towards the Pahalgam meadows in Anantnag district where the attack took place.
The terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists with women screaming for help, TV channels quoting eyewitnesses said.
“They ask the name of my husband and later opened fire on him,” said a wailing young woman. Immediately after the shootout as tourists rushed back to Srinagar.
