Situation in Haldwani limping back to normal: CS

Days after becoming the first woman Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Radha Raturi on Friday took up yet another challenging task as she rushed to the violence-hit Haldwani to take stock of the situation which she said was limping back to normal.
”Chief Secretary Radha Raturi visited the violence affected areas on Friday and took the stock of the situation,” an official statement said.
Raturi issued instructions to District Magistrate Nainital Vandana Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prahalad Meena to maintain constant vigil on the situation.
Raturi visited Sushila Tiwari Hospital and met the injured and inquired about their health. She also visited the Banbhulpura police station which was torched by the unruly mob.
She gave strict instructions for safeguarding the lives of the people.
The Chief Secretary also held a high level meeting with the DIG Kumaon, the District Magistrate and the SSP to review the situation. Talking to the media, she said the situation is under control and limping back to normal.
She said strict action will be taken against the culprits. Besides the affected areas of Banbhulpura, adequate police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the sensitive localities to ensure that such incidents should not recur. She praised the general public for maintaining peace in the area. The Chief Secretary Raturi appealed to the people to ignore rumors and maintain peace.
