Eight people including seven school students were injured after they were hit by a speeding car driven by an employee of a mental hospital in Selaquie area of Dehradun on Wednesday, police said.
“Today (Wednesday) Selaqui Police Station received information that an Alto car has hit some school students on Nigam Road Selaqui. On receiving the information, the police force immediately reached the spot and rushed the injured children in the accident to the nearest hospital,” a police official said.
After the investigation, it was found that the Alto vehicle car (number: UK-017-J-7766) which was being driven by Vikrant Kumar, a health worker employed in a mental hospital, went out of control and hit the children walking on the roadside on Nigam Road Selaqui. Nearly seven children and a girl were injured in the accident.
The accused driver, who also received injuries, was taken into custody by the police.
