The BSE Sensex on Thursday morning hit a new all time high at 74,501, up over 600 points from the previous day’s close moving closer to the grand 75000 mark in future.

However, as the trading progressed, benchmark equity indices turned volatile in the intra-day trade after testing fresh all-time highs, as profit-taking emerged at select counters.
The BSE index, thereafter, gave up most of its gains and slipped into red to a low of 73,772 – down 729 points from the record high. The BSE benchmark was quoting around 73,850 levels.

The NSE Nifty 50 scaled a high of 22,619, and was seen testing the 22,400 levels.

In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index surged 0.6 per cent.

NTPC, HDFC Bank and Tata Steel showed renewed interest among buyers while BHEL in the mid cap continued to rise.

Analysts said the Sensex may touch 75000 mark in near future as the FIIs remained buoyant on the Indian market.
