Amid a grand spectacle, Sean Baker was the cynosure of the 97th Oscar awards function held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday Night.
Director Baker’s romantic comedy-drama Anora emerged as the Oscar awards ceremony’s biggest winner, taking home five awards — Best Picture, Best Actress (Mikey Madison), Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay
Baker also became the first person to get four Oscars for the same film in the history of Academy Awards.
The 97th edition of the Academy Award concluded, celebrating excellence in both artistic and technical aspects of filmmaking. Hosted annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), this year’s ceremony honoured outstanding achievements across 23 categories.
With comedian Conan O’Brien making his debut as host, the 2025 Oscars was a grand spectacle, bringing together the biggest names in the entertainment industry.
Among the night’s standout moments, Adrien Brody won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of László Tóth in Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist.
Madison took home the Best Actress trophy for her work in Anora, which emerged as a frontrunner in several categories. Earlier, Madison was named the Best Actress at this year’s BAFTA and Spirit Awards. The actress said in her acceptance speech: “This is very surreal. I grew up in Los Angeles, but Hollywood always felt so far away from me, so to be here, standing in this room today is really incredible.”
