Retired ONGC engineer found murdered in Doon

A retired ONGC engineer was murdered by unidentified assailants in Alaknanda Enclave locality of Dehradun on Monday night, police said.

Ashok Kumar Garg (75) was rushed to Indresh Hospital by police after he was found profusely bleeding with knive injuries at his house in the locality near GMS Road at around 8 PM. Doctors in the hospital declared Garg brought dead.

On inquiring about the deceased, it was found that Garg had retired from ONGC and was living alone in his house.

The scene of murder was thoroughly inspected by the police and a forensic team tried to pick up clues. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun AJai Singh also visited the house and inspected the crime scene.

The SSP took information about the incident from the officers and neighbors and immediately gave instructions to the police officials to investigate the case and arrest the accused.

  1. This is an indication of deteriorating law and order conditions in once peaceful Dehradun city. Bad elements are entering in the city without any check. Unprecedented influx of outsiders in Dehradun is a point of concern. Those who don’t get jobs resort to petty crimes and even dacoities and murders.
    Urgent action is required to control such criminal activities.
