The Indian Meteorological department (IMD) on Wednesday said prevailing severe heat wave conditions in North India are likely to reduce from Thursday.
The IMD also said the conditions for the arrival of monsoon are favourable in Kerala during the next 24 hours.
Light showers are likely to occur in some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in the next few days.
Amidst the heat wave conditions, Churu in Rajasthan on Tuesday recorded the highest temperature of 50.5 degree C of the season in the country, it said.
As the parts of India were reeling under the intense heat wave conditions, heavy rains lashed Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunanchal Pradesh and some other parts of northeastern region.
Warm nights would continue to nag people in the northern region, IMD said.
