With the Jan 22 Ram Mandir consecration in Ayodhya drawing close, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday asked all the district magistrates to organize grand festivals all over the state with active participation of the people for nine days from January 14 and called for lighting candles on “pranpratishta divas”.

“As the consecration of Ram Temple will be held on Jan 22, grand programmes should be organized as part of the celebrations,” the chief Minister said. He said “we have to follow the great principles of Lord Ram with unselfish approach. We have to make Uttarakhand an ideal state. This is an opportunity that we have been waiting for a long. The consecration of Ram Mandir should be organized in the state with all grandeur and stateliness,” Dhami said at a high-level meeting in Dehradun.

A cleanliness drive should be carried out in large scale in cities, temples, riversides and institutions. The district magistrates should make sure that these programmes should not be restricted to official-level functions only. Women groups, NGOs, youth organizations should be involved in these functions.

On Jan 22, ‘prasad’ should be given to people at temples and gurdwaras. This prasad should reach the poor people, the Chief Minister said.

For lighting up candles on Jan 22, all the people should be encouraged, he said.
