Rains bring respite from rising temperature in hills

Rains accompanied by hailstorm on Wednesday lashed parts of Uttarkhand triggering landslides in certain areas of Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts.

Parts of Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir also experienced rains bringing some respite from the rising temperatures in the hills.

Under the influence of the western disturbance, the rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and gusty winds are likely to continue over parts of northwest India.

Heavy rains also occurred in parts of Tamil Nadu and Bihar, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Meanwhile, heatwave conditions continued in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

The hills of Uttarakhand experienced rains accompanied by hailstorm at certain areas. Rains in parts of Chamoli and Uttrarkashi districts also triggered landslides due to which traffic remained disturbed in the evening causing inconvenience to the local people.

Heatwave conditions prevailed in Delhi as maximum temperature touched 40.5 degree C which was 5.4 more than the normal.  The minimum temperature also shot up to 25.6 degree C in the national capital.

In Dehradun, the minimum temperature climbed to 21.1 degree C which was 5 degree more than the normal and two degree more than the yesterday’s minimum temperature. The maximum temperature was 35.5 degree C.
