Prof Manmohan Singh Rauthan will officially take over the charge of the new Vice Chancellor (VC) of the HNB Garhwal University in Srinagar in Uttarakhand on Thursday, a varsity official said on Wednesday.
The new appointment of Prof Rauthan as the VC of the Garhwal University came after the term of the previous VC Prof Annpurna Nautiyal expired, the official said.
Prof Rauthan has an impressive career spanning over three decades, marked by numerous academic and professional accomplishments. Prof. Rauthan completed his M.Sc. in Physics from IIT New Delhi in 1985, followed by an M Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Roorkee University in 1987.
He further strengthened his academic foundation by earning a Ph.D. from Kumaon University, Nainital.
Beginning his career as a programmer at the Government Computer Centre in Bhopal in August 1987, Prof Rauthan joined the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in 1988 n Delhi as a Senior Systems Analyst, where he served until 1995. His dedication and talent earned him an award from the President of India for his exceptional service.
In 1995, Prof Rauthan joined G.B. Pant Engineering College, Pauri, as a Reader. His dedication to advancing the field led him to HNB Garhwal University, where he became a Professor in Computer Science & Engineering in 2001. During his tenure at HNB Garhwal University, Prof Rauthan held multiple influential roles. He served as the Examination Controller (Computerization) from 2002 to 2011. During this period, he computerized the examination work in the university, which had previously relied on outsourced agencies for examination computerization. Additionally, he spearheaded the Computer Science & Engineering Department as Head since 2001 and took on the role of Examination Controller (PC) from 2007 to 2015.
