Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay one day’s visit to the tourist resort of Harsil in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on March 6, the ruling state BJP said on Saturday.
Earlier, Modi was planning to visit Harsil on Feb 27 but the programme was cancelled due to the inclement weather in the Garhwal hills.
Welcoming the visit, State BJP’s media incharge Manvir Singh Chauhan said Modi’s Uttarkashi visit would give impetus to CM’s winter yatra efforts in the hills.
Chauhan said the PM will also address a public meeting at Harsil and hold prayers at the nearby Mukhaba temple, the wintery sojourn of the Goddess Ganga who is worshiped at Gangotri temple during the April-November period.
Commenting on the visit, State President Mahendra Bhatt said Modi’s arrival is no less than a festival for the people of the state.
