SDRF deploys 15 rescue teams,60 sub-teams in UK

Two days after its arrival in Uttarakhand, the monsoon on Saturday intensified in the hill state with heavy rains in Dehradun and other areas and the Ganga rising in Haridwar flooding Sukhi river where many vehicles were parked.
The Uttarakhand police said many vehicles which were parked in the Sukhi river area in Haridwar were washed away in the gushing waters as the Ganga started rising.
With monsoon rains lashing parts of the hill state, the SDRF also issued a general advisory to the people asking them not to park their vehicles at landslide zones and other vulnerable areas and said it has deployed 15 rescue teams and 60 sub-teams on alert mode.
“The monsoon arrived in Uttarakhand on June 27. Since then, it has covered most parts of the state including Haridwar,” said Bikram Singh, Director Met office Dehradun.
The SDRF also asked the people to remain alert against any eventuality emanating from the monsoon rains especially near rivers, rivulets and canals. The people were also advised to park their vehicles at a safe place only.
Meanwhile, SDRF Commandant Manikant Mishra held a meeting with the personnel in the wake of the monsoon season and discussed strategies related to preparedness. Mishra said the SDRF was asked to identify the flood-prone areas in the plains. As a precautionary step, 9 rescue teams and 26 sub-teams of SDRF are being deployed in the disaster-prone areas of the hills with modern equipment and satellite phones.
Two teams of SDRF will remain on alert mode at the Jollygrant airport as a backup arrangement.
The SDRF teams are also being deployed in the plains of Garhwal and Kumaon regions.
