Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who is remembered for his roles in Mrigya, Disco Dancer, Ghulami and Pyar Jhukta Nahin, would get this year’s Dadasaheb Phalke award for his contribution to the Indian cinema.
Announcing the award, Union Information Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said he was feeling honoured to announce this award for Mithun Da (74) for his remarkable cinematic journey which has inspired generations.
Writing on X, Vaishnaw said Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor Chakraborty for his iconic contribution to Indian cinema.
Chakraborty is remembered for 19 movies releases as lead actor in the year 1989, a record which is still unbroken in Bollywood.
