The minimum temperature is plummeting gradually in Dehradun bringing cold especially during nights even as the dry weather spell was continuing in Uttarakhand.

The minimum temperature on Friday fell to 12.4 degree C, a fall of one degree since Thursday. In the past one week, the temperature has fallen by six notches, almost one degree every day from 18 degree C level last week.

“Basically this is largely due to north-westerly winds which have set in bringing down the minimum temperature continuously,” said Rohit Thapliyal, a scientist in IMD Dehradun. The minimum temperature has almost settled and is normal now, he said. There was big departure of 4-5 degree in the minimum temperature earlier which has now come down to normal, he said.

However, he said there was no departure in the maximum temperature which was around 28 degree C on Friday.

He said the dry spell would continue in the next 6-7 days in Uttarakhand.
