A love story has ended in tragedy in Dehradun district after a youth from Tehri district allegedly committed suicide after killing his beloved, police said on Monday.
The body of Arti Dabral (26), a teacher, was found at Chhiderwala area on Monday Morning. After the recovery of the body, SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh reached the spot and ordered investigations immediately.
After preliminary investigations, it came to light that Shailendra Bhatt (26), who was a native of Tehri district, had apparently killed Dabral and later threw her body under a bridge at Chhiderwala area. The girl was stabbed repeatedly with a sharp-edged weapon.
Bhatt, who used to live with his sister in Shyampur area of Haridwar district, had allegedly murdered Dabral after six-seven years of relationship. Later, he allegedly committed suicide by jumping into Chila canal. An SDRF team has launched a search operation to find the body of Bhatt.
Before committing suicide, Bhatt told his friends that he had murdered Dabral and was ending his life by jumping into the canal, according to police.
“We are trying to find out why Shaildra Bhatt killed Arti Dabral,” said a police official who is investigating the case.
