Karnataka on top but Bihar, Gujarat down at National Games

Karnataka on Thursday remained on the top of the medal tally in the 38th National Games by winning 55 medals including 29 golds even as the hosts Uttarakhand won more medals but continued on 15th place.

Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) comprising Army, Air Force and Navy, was in second place winning 47 medals including 28 golds.

Madhya Pradesh improved its tally as it moved to third place bagging 35 medals with17 golds.

Maharashtra was pushed to fourth position despite winning the most 85 medals including 16 golds.

Haryana was on fifth place winning 52 medals with 13 gold. Tamil Nadu moved to sixth place bagging 45 medals with 11 golds.

Manipur moved further down to seventh place winning 28 medals including 11 gold. Till Sunday, Manipur was on the top of the medal tally.

The hosts Uttarakhand continued to remain on 15th place winning 33 medals with four golds.

Meanwhile, Bihar and Gujarat, two big states have performed very badly in the National Games. Gujarat which was on 24th place has so far bagged only 12 medals including one gold.

On the other hand, Bihar bagged only five medals with no gold and was at 28th place. The performance of Andhra Pradesh, another big state, was also not being appreciated in the National Games where it has won only eight medals including three golds and was placed at 18th place.
