Temperatures continued to rise as Dehradun on Saturday recorded the hottest day of the summer season with the mercury soaring to 41 degree C and the met department warning that the heat wave would continue unabated for 2-3 more days.
The met department has issued an alert for the heat wave in the next few days in the plains of Uttarkahand including Dehradun. The minimum temperature in Dehradun also rose to 23.9 degrees C on Saturday. Along with the heat wave, the met department also said there is possibility of thunderstorm in the next few days at isolated places.
The temperature in Dehradun and other parts of the hill state has been rising fast in the past few days. On Friday, Dehradun recorded 40.7 degree C. On Thursday, it was 39.2 degrees in Doon.
Most of the people in Dehradun said they felt intense heat in the day. “I was sweating all through the day. It was very, very hot,” said Jagdeep Nagpal, a retired SBI employee.
Several other people also said they felt like taking bath many times in the day to escape the intense heat.
The met department said the temperature is likely to remain between 41-42 degrees C in the next 2-3 days in Dehradun.
