Ahead of the National Games in Uttarakhand, a coach has been arrested for allegedly raping a teenage player in a hockey camp in Roshnabad stadium in Hardwar, a top police official said on Monday.
SSP Haridwar Pramendra Dobhal said on the complaint of the hockey player who alleged that she was raped by her coach Bhanu Prakash, a case under 64 BNS has been registered in the SIDCUL police station in Haridwar. After the complaint, the coach Bhanu Prakash was immediately arrested. “All the possible evidences have been collected,” Dobhal said. A woman constable has been entrusted to investigate the case.
The victim was later taken to hospital for medical examination and all other legal actions were being taken against the coach that includes his arrest, Dobhal said.
The National Games in Uttarakhand will begin from Jan 28 and conclude on Feb 14.
Meanwhile, state Sports Minister Rekha Arya met the victim and her family members and assured full help. She said the government would take strong action against the coach.
