At a time when umpteen Congress leaders are joining the saffron party, BJP MP from Hissar Brijendra Singh on Sunday joined the main opposition party.

Singh, son of Chaudhary Birendra singh, a top Haryana leader, joined Congress in the presence of the party President Mallikaarjun Kharge at a function in New Delhi.

In his social media post, Singh said he has also resigned from the Lok Sabha seat due to some compelling reasons and thanked the people of Hissar for giving him chance to represent them. “After quitting my IAS job, I had pledged to serve the people which will continue,” he said.

Interestingly, Birendra Singh also joined BJP in 2014 after quitting Congress where he had served for 42 years. He was panchayati raj and steel minister in the Modi government from 2014-19.
