Hemkund Sahib reopens

Hemkund Sahib, the Sikh shrine nestling in the snow-capped Garhwal Himalayas in Chamoli district of Uttarkahand was reopened for pilgrims on Saturday.

A jatha comprising Panj Payaras reached the shrine in the morning to offer prayers with the granthis performing ardas. A large number of pilgrims were also present as they raised religious slogans.

Speaking on the occasion, Hemkund gurudwara trust head Sardar Narendrajit Singh Bindra said all those with health issues should avoid visiting the shrine at last for some time due to heavy snow in the area.
