Heavy snowfall and rains lashed several parts of northern India including Uttarakhand on Thursday with the high mountains wearing the white blanket of snow.

Snowfall was occurring intermittently in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand with rains in the plains.

Met office has issued an orange alert of the heavy snowfall in the hilly areas in Uttarakhand for Thursday.

In Dehradun, intermittent rainfall continued since last night. Some areas in the city also experienced scanty hailstorm.

Tourist resorts like Chakrata in Dehradun, Dhanaulti in Tehri, Sankari in Uttarkashi, Chopta in Rudraprayag, Auli in Chamoli and Munsiary in Pithoragarh experienced snowfall. Some places in Mussoorie and Nainital also experienced hails and sleet.

Since Wednesday evening, heavy snowfall was occurring in Badrinath and Kedarnath areas.

People took to the social media to share beautiful pictures of snowfall in several areas with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami streaming videos of snowfall in Badrinath and Kedarnath on X.

Met office said there are likely chances of thunderstorm accompanied with hail/lightning and rains at isolated places in Uttarakhand today and tomorrow.
