In a noble gesture of encouragement of budding media professionals, Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Sunday felicitated Doon University students for their outstanding media coverage of the Vasantotsav 2025 – digital, print and social media – and lauded their professional approach during the three-day festival of spring.
Doon University’s School of Media and Communication Studies students, tasked with extensive coverage of the Vasantotsav by the Rajbhawan, played a significant role in the event by providing extensive coverage across print, digital, and social media.
For three consecutive days, the media team worked tirelessly to document the festival’s highlights, including competitions, exhibitions, and expert discussions. Their dedication and professionalism ensured the festival’s reach to a wider audience, drawing appreciation from participants and organizers alike.
Recognizing their efforts, the Governor invited the students inside the Rajbhawan after the conclusion of the festival. The team was felicitated with an honorary award and a cash prize, a gesture that acknowledged their contribution to ground reporting. The Governor praised the students for their hard work, with special appreciation for the girls in the team who stepped forward and demonstrated commendable dedication in covering the event.
The Governor also highlighted the proposal made by the students to extend the festival to four days in the future, considering the overwhelming response and the scope for greater participation.
The suggestion was welcomed as a valuable contribution to the festival’s growth.
The recognition of Doon University students marks a proud moment for youth journalism in Uttarakhand, encouraging more young minds to actively engage in documenting cultural events and community stories.
