The portals of Gangotri shrines will be reopened on April 30 at 1030 hours kick-starting the annual Chardham yatra pilgrimage this year in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.
On the first day of Chaitra Navratri on Sunday (Mar 30), the priests said the muhurat for reopening of the Gangotri shrine in Uttarkashi district will be at 1030 hours on April 30 which is the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. The muhart time for the reopening of Yamunotri shrine in Uttarkashi district which also opens on Akshay Tritiya, will be decided on Yamuna Jyanti on April 6.
The portals of the Kedarnath shrine will be reopened on May 2 at 0700 hours. The Kedarnath shrine which is situated at a height of 3584 meter in Kedarnath district was closed Nov 3 last.
The portals of Badrinath shrine, which were closed on Nov 17, will be reopened on May 4 at 6 AM. Badrinath shrine is situated in the hill district of Chamoli at a height of 3133 meter.
