Explosion occurred in scrap shop

Eight people were injured, including one seriously, in an explosion in a scrap dealer’s shop in Kidduwala area in Dehradun on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The explosion occurred at around 2 PM with a deafening sound after which a large number of people gathered around the shop. A police team rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
The injured were rushed to Doon and Coronation hospitals where the condition of one person is stated to be serious.
SO Raipur Kundan Ram said investigations are on to find out the cause of the explosion. The shopkeepers were segregating scraps when the explosion occurred, he said.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ramesh Kumar Khadka had rented the shop to a scrap dealer only one month ago. The scrap dealer was identified as Shubham Kumar, who used to buy scraps from various areas as part of his daily business.
A case has been registered against the scrap dealer in this regard.
The injured have been identified as Anuj, Abhi, Bablu, Shivam, Samir, Yogi alias Yogesh, Budh Kumar and Rohit. All the injured are natives of Raipur area in Dehradun.
