Six people were killed and 22 injured after a bus fell into a deep khud in Pauri district of Uttarakhand on Sunday, police said.
A total of 28 people were travelling in the bus which was being operated by the Garhwal Motor Owners (GMO), SSP Pauri Lokeshwar Singh said. According to preliminary reports, the bus veered off the road and fell 100 meter deep near Dahalchori area of the district. The impact of the accident was so severe that the bus was reduced to a mangled heap.
An SDRF team rushed to the spot for rescue operation and took all the injured to the nearby hospitals. While five people died on the spot, one succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
Eight critically injured persons were being referred to higher centre for the better medical care.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the accident.
