After actor Randeep Hoooda spotted a tigress with a snare in Surai area of the Terai East in Kumoan region of Uttarakhand, the state forest department has started efforts to capture the big cat for medical treatment.

Hooda had recently taken to X (Twitter) to share his concern about the tigress asking Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the forest department to rescue and treat her.

After the concern expressed by Hooda, the Chief Wildlife Warden Samir Sinha granted permission to tranquilize the tigress or capture it by installing cages. “We have got necessary permission from the Chief Wildlife Warden for capturing the tigress. We are making efforts to spot the tigress and capture her,” said P K Patro Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Kumaon region.

Patro said the department has also installed cages and camera traps for capturing this tigress. “So far there is no success as the tigress is not coming within the range which is required for tranquilizing her. We are keeping a close watch on the tigress,” said Patro.

In his Tweet, Hooda had written: “A tigress is moving with snare in her belly in the Surai forest range of Uttarakhand. Request authorities to take immediate action to rescue and treat her. He had also shared a picture of the tigress.  The post was shared on December 28. After Hooda shared the post, it went viral with Netizens also expressing similar concern.
