A Hindu Dharma Sansad under Jyotirmath Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati in Mahakumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh has threatened to oust Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Hindu religion on his alleged derogatory statement on Manusmriti.
The Dhaaramsansad sought an explanation from Gandhi on his statement on Manusmriti within one month time failing which the seer said he will be ousted from the Hinduism, a statement issued by the office of the Shankracharya said on Monday.
The Shankracharya was speaking on a proposal in the Dharma Sansad in Prayagraj where Mahakumbh mela is in being held.
A censure motion was also moved against Gandhi’s alleged objectionable statement on Manusmriti in this regard.
The Shankaracharya said Rahul Gandhi had in a statement claimed that Manusmriti “protects” rapists.
“Param Sansad 1008 strongly condemns this statement of Rahul Gandhi and demands a clarification on his statement or he should apologize immediately. He should also explain within one month why he should not be expelled from Hinduism for condemning the basic text (Manusmriti) of Hinduism. The secretary of the Dharma Sansad will write a letter to Rahul Gandhi informing him about this proposal and will ask him to present his side within a month. If this does not happen, he will be given a reminder and it will be announced that he will be excommunicated from the Hindu religion,” the Seer said.
Gone are the days when anyone would consider Hinduism a banana tree and cut it down and go away. If anyone speaks against Hinduism, the Param Dharma Sansad will take action against him irrespective of whether he is the Prime Minister of the country or the President or the President of a foreign country or the leader of any party in the country, whether it is the ruling party or the opposition. He should first study about Hinduism before speaking, protect whatever he says, otherwise we will believe that you are the people working against Hinduism. Those who work against Hinduism are exempted but no one can do this while staying out of the Hinduism,” the Shankracharya said.
Referring to the alleged Hathras rape incident in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi had said he had gone to the victim’s house where he was told that the rapists were roaming freely and the victim’s family was confined to their house. In this context, He further claimed that “where is this written in the Constitution (the victim’s family remains confined and the rapists roam freely)? It is written in your book, it is written in Manusmriti. It is not written in the Constitution. And if you say that you rule in U P and the Constitution does not apply there. Manusmriti applies there.”
