Dhami inaugurates Pithoragarh-Doon Flybig flight

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday inaugurated a 19-seater Flybig flight between Pithoragarh and Dehradun and said Jollygrant and Pantnagar airports are being upgraded to international standards.

Dhami also flew on the Flybig flight to Dehradun which covered the distance between the hilly town and the state capital in one hour. Flybig is a regional airline based in Gurugram, Haryana.

The flight in Twin Otter plane will be operated three days a week on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said. He said the flight would boost tourism in the state and help the local people to cut short the travel time.

The Chief Minister said the Jollygrant airport in Dehradun is being upgraded and expanded to international level with the addition of a new terminal.  Similarly, obstacle limitation surfaces (OLS) survey of the Pantnagar airport has been completed, the chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also requested Scindia to launch a flight between Pithoragarh and Hindon, close to New Delhi.  Ends
