Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar on Monday met Union Home Minister  Amit Shah in New Delhi.

The Home Minister congratulated the DGP for conducting the Lok Sabha elections in Uttarakhand peacefully, a police statement said.

Kumar expressed his gratitude to the centre for providing all possible assistance for the elections. During this, the Home Minister, emphasized the need for the state police to play a more active role in preventing the increasing incidents of forest fires in the state. He directed the DGP to take immediate action.

Kumar had played an active role as IG BSF in Kashmir in the high-level team which was set up for the implementing the important decisions of the Central Government in relation to the abrogation of the Article 370 under Shah in 2019.
