Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday said he would make Dehradun a modern city through sustainable development approach.
Dhami said his government was working on various schemes worth Rs 1400 crore to make Dehradun a modern city.
Speaking at a function in Dehradun to mark the completion of three years of his second term in office, the Chief Minister said that the construction of the fifth Science City of the country is in progress in Dehradun and construction of 300-bed cancer hospital has been completed in Harrawala. Charging stations for electric vehicles are being constructed at 11 places in Dehradun along with the operation of electric buses to reduce pollution, he said.
“Our effort is to make Dehradun a modern city which becomes an excellent example of development and environmental protection,” Dhami said. Significantly, Dhami’s comments came after a large number of people in Dehradun expressed deep concern over the plan to cut a large number of trees in the name of development.
Dhami also thanked the people for overwhelmingly supporting BJP in the recent municipal elections in Dehradun.
Dhami also said his government has also provided more than 20000 government jobs in the past three years. He said his government has also fulfilled 70 per cent of the promises made by the BJP during the 2022 assembly elections and will fulfill all the remaining ones before the next elections. “I am confident that with all your blessings we will be able to fulfill the remaining promises by the next assembly elections,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the infrastructure in all sectors including education, health, transport and civil aviation has been strengthened in the state. He said that his government made more than 30 policies in various sectors due to which the state is emerging as a hub of religious tourism, adventure tourism and wellness tourism.
The Chief Minister said that due to the failures of the previous governments, serious changes were being seen in the demography of the state and to address this challenge, strict steps were taken against hateful mindsets like love jihad, land jihad and spit jihad. He said that apart from this, strict land laws were implemented to preserve anti-conversion, anti-riot and cultural heritage of the state and to keep the lands safe from land mafias.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said his government would provide financial assistance to the youth preparing for competitive examinations and develop a dedicated platform for their training. He said that a high-level committee will be formed to decide the rules and funds for this scheme.
He also announced the launch of Uttarakhand Content Creator Contest to promote Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage and tourism. During his recent visit to Uttarkashi, the Prime Minister had suggested the state government to organize such a competition to promote perennial tourism.
