Dehradun records lowest temp of season, frost formed in some areas

Doonites on Wednesday woke up to the coldest day of this winter with frost forming on cars and other objects in many places.
The hilly areas of Uttarakhand continued to shiver in biting cold as the cold spell continued.
Met office said the temperature dipped to 4.3 degrees C in the early morning. This correspondent saw a layer of frost formed on his car at his residence in Dehradun.
As the day progressed, a bright sunshine turned the weather a bit comfortable.
“When the temperature falls below 4 degrees C, the frost usually starts forming on certain surfaces especially on metals,” said Rohit Thapliyal, a scientist at the Dehradun Met office.
The met office said the weather would continue to remain mainly dry till tomorrow in Uttarakhand with misty conditions. However, the high altitudes areas may experience snowfall on Jan 26-27.
