Dehradun, Mussoorie bask in bright sunshine

A large number of people in Dehradun along with most of the hilly towns including Mussoorie in Uttarakhand were on Wednesday basking in the bright sunshine as the winter conditions set in.

Though the sun has been shining brightly in the state with no fog formation during the past one fortnight, the day and night temperatures have dipped bringing the winter conditions.  “I enjoy sunshine in the winter. This is also the time when I usually take a nap in my courtyard in the afternoon,” said Devki Devi Rautela, an old lady. Just like Rautela, a large number of women and men in Uttarakhand enjoy taking winter naps in the afternoon. “This is very common in Dehradun. I also used to take siesta in the afternoon,” said Vibha Dogra, a homemaker who used to live in Dehradun in 1990s.

Met office said the maximum temperature of Dehradun was recorded 22.4 C degree on Tuesday and the minimum temperature on Wednesday was 6.5 which was slightly one degree less than the normal. The nights in the state capital are bit cold these days, it said.

In the next few days, the weather is likely to remain clear in the state, said Vikram Singh Director state meteorological department.

In some high altitude areas, the ever beautiful icicles have started forming which is becoming a big attraction for tourists.  “These icicles are formed when the temperature dips to 2-3 degree,” said Singh.

Tourists in Mussoorie are also enjoying the beautiful evening scene of winterline these days. Ends
