There are few cases in Uttarkahand also, she said.

The Videsh Sampark Programme witnessed in depth dialogue amongst stakeholders on the Ministry’s programmes, schemes and initiatives pertaining to consular, passport and diaspora issues as also those for promoting safe and legal migration and mobility and for upholding Indian workers’ welfare overseas.

The Ministry also made a presentation on how Uttarakhand, with its rich cultural heritage, strategic location, and natural beauty could leverage its unique strengths to promote international tourism and investments within its territory. The various interactive sessions during the event also provided the opportunity to both the Ministry and the hill state to discuss on how both could forge enhanced coordination to address all the above issues, streamline procedures and share best practices.

It may be noted that the Videsh Sampark Programme was launched by the Ministry of External Affairs in 2017. Since then, it has been organised with Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Punjab, Tripura and Bihar. Ministry plans to continue with this initiative with other Indian states in the future, the MEA said.
