Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has been given six months extension, official sources said on Saturday.
Raturi is the first woman to take the job of the top ranking civil servant in the state.
Raturi, an IAS officer of 1988 batch, replaced the incumbent S S Sandhu, who retired Jan 31 after getting six months extension.
After taking over as the CS, she has taken many initiatives which include pushing the infrastructure projects on faster pace in the state. She is also focusing on the social welfare schemes especially related to poor children.
Before taking over as the CS, Raturi held many important portfolios including home and CM office in the state. She was also District Magistrate of Tehri and Dehradun.
Significantly, Raturi’s husband Anil Raturi was the DGP of the hill state. He retired few years ago.
This is for the first time in Uttarakhand, may be in India also, that a husband and wife couple held two top posts of the police and civil services.
