CM seeks report on negligence of healthcare in Pauri district hospital

After doctors used mobile torches to treat the injured people at Pauri district hospital, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday sought a report from the district administration on the incident.

Immediately after the Sunday bus accident in Dahalchori area of Pauri district in which six people were killed, the injured were rushed to the government district hospital in Pauri where there was no electricity. The transformer was also conked out.

In view of the electricity outages, doctors in the emergency ward used mobile torches to treat the injured people, media reports said. This enraged the opposition leaders who demanded the resignation of state Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat. “This is a serious issue and we demand resignation of Dhan Singh Rawat as he is the health minister,” said state Congress vice president Suryakant Dhasmana.

Later, the injured people were referred to Srinagar Medical hospital.

Meanwhile, Dhami has asked the Pauri district administration to submit a report on the Pauri district hospital incident and provide all the basic facilities there.

The Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs 5 lakh each to the family members of the all the six people who lost their lives in the accident.

A bus carrying 28 people veered off the road and fell into a deep khud at Dahalchori area in Pauri district on Sunday killing six people and injuring 22 others.
