Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday honoured 12 rat-hole miners who played a major role in the recue mission in the under-construction Silkyara tunnel where 41 workers were remained trapped for 17 days last month.

Dhami gave a shawl and a cheque of Rs 50,000 to each miner. All the 41 workers were rescued on November 28 that also ended their ordeal which began on Nov 12.

In the difficult times of the rescue operation, the rat-hole miners managed to save the workers by not bothering about their own lives, Dhami said at a function organized in this regard at his official residence in Dehradun.

  1. Good job done by rat miners. But uttrakhand is last state to honor them although Silquira incident happened in uttrakhand. Even Akhilesh Yadav has honered them by giving one lakh to each rat miners
